Liga MB Round 4: Cojute beats Fantasmas in the most crucial game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cojutepeque. Top-ranked Cojute faced 3rd ranked Fantasmas. Host Cojute (6-0) defeated guests from San Vicente (2-2) 89-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fantasmas. Cojute looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 11 assists for the winners. Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Fantasmas' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Cojute have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Fantasmas at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Metapan and Brujos. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Santa Ana can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Chalchuapa (0-3) 112-98. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican forward Frankyn Batista (198-1999, college: Pace) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Eddie Tirado contributed with 32 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Naturalized Puerto Rican swingman Miguel Velez (185-1997, college: Hartnell JC) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for Chalchuapa. Santa Ana (1-4) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Santa Tecla. It was Chalchuapa's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Santa Ana will play against higher ranked Brujos (#3) in Izalco in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chalchuapa will play on the road against Santa Tecla (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Worth to mention a quality performance of Dominican forward Adonis Lopez (-1997) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Dominican forward Alejandro De Los Santos (193-2002) who added 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side Puerto Rican center Giovanny Martinez (206-1998, college: Jarvis Christian) responded with 9 points, 24 rebounds and 4 blocks and Puerto Rican guard Victor Carattini (185-1992, college: PR-Bayamon) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Brujos moved-up to third place, which they share with Metapan and Fantasmas. Loser Santiagueno dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Brujos will meet at home Santa Ana (#7) in the next round. Santiagueno will have a break next round.

American Eddie Tirado (-1989) contributed with 32 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Batista is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Naturalized Puerto Rican swingman Miguel Velez (185-1997, college: Hartnell JC) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Mercado (182-1987, college: App State) added 40 points (!!!) in the effort for Chalchuapa.
